An End of Life Doula, or Death Doula, is a non-medical person who serves a variety of roles for both the dying person, as well as their family and friends. This includes emotional and spiritual comfort and support for the dying person and their loved ones, and I am a trained and certified Death Doula through the INELDA (International End of Life Doula Association). I also have additional services that I perform through my regular psychic services, which I have found are integral in the crossing over of the dying person. In ancient times, dying people were surrounded by their community and tribe to help them cross over peacefully, and I feel very strongly that we need to bring these practices back into our modern society that shuns or is in denial of the death process.
The various services that are included with my Death Doula practice are as follows:
- Reiki energy for pain management and assistance in crossing over
- Guided imagery and meditations for anxiety and pain relief
- Development of vigil plans
- In-home, hospital, hospice, or nursing home visits
- Continuous presence during the final stages of the dying process
- Companion care and caregiver relief/support
- Assistance with completing advance directives for health care and death care
- Life review and legacy projects
- Assistance with fulfilling final wishes, healing relationships, and putting things in order
- Assistance with funeral homes and funeral planning
- Obituary and eulogy writing support
- After death support and grief counseling for loved ones
- Psychic counseling for both the dying person, as well as the loved ones
- Holding space while life support is discontinued
- Medical Aid in Dying support in states where it is currently legalized
I have a three tier system for payments, and many hospice programs offer assistance for these services if you are in need.
Tier One:
$0-$75 per hour
- Poverty or lower income level–unstable housing, food insecurity, and basic needs are difficult to meet
Tier Two:
$75-$125 per hour
- Middle level income–somewhat stable living situations, where you may own your home, and usually can have your basic needs met
Tier Three:
$125-$175 per hour
- Upper level income–stable housing, all basic needs are met, and owns car and maybe other investments
- Disclaimer: I am not a licensed funeral director, nor do I embalm human remains.
